Merry (late) Christmas/Holidays and a Happy New Year!
Well, it’s a little late time this time (as Christmas was a week ago) but finishing this thing up took me a little while. Oh well, here we are, another year gone and I of course realize I pretty much haven’t touched this place save for replying to some comments, which are of course always welcome.
Will that change in 2016? Hard to say.
How much time I spend on the blog seems to sort of reflect how much more time I spend in other places such as communitys/forums and Reddit, for example.
However I shall try to not abandon it completely like I did a lot of this year OTL
Anyway, happy season greetings again and I’ll see you guys next year!
Beep, beep! Christmas pic time!
Last post here was in spring…time really flies. And…err…sorry.
But I do have something I hope to write about here in the coming weeks so there’s that.
At any rate, Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays!
I’m off! /o/
Yeah, can’t really draw aircraft well. But then again, I hardly practice so why am I even complaining?
Enough of that!
I said the same thing over at DA but, sorry for pretty much just disappearing for a while there.
Life’s been keeping me busy and I haven’t really had much motivation left for anything, I guess…
So what have I been up to lately?
Well, first off, I’ve got a SoundCloud-account now so I can easier torment friends & family with some home-made “musical pleasure” from yours truly. Also bought a cheap MIDI-keyboard, so that helps.
I also bough myself a new laptop…errr laptop hybrid – A Surface Pro to be more precise. I should probably write about that sometime but I quite like it overall. It’s a bit of a compromise…okay, it’s a compromise in many areas but all my other laptops are far too slow for most things nowadays, and I can draw on the Surface so there’s that.
Windows 8.1 is pretty okay actually, and it makes sense on something like this. Sticking with 7 Ultimate on my desktop machine, however.
I’m also finally a part of the smartphone crowd. Took me long enough! Ended up with a Sony Xperia SP, while not perfect, serves me pretty well. Couldn’t replace a dedicated proper portable device though, hence the Surface Pro.
As for loot and stuff, well, I’m always buying stuff but just didn’t get around to post about it. Did go a christmas spending spree however so when those things show up I could post about it. And lastly, I’ve found myself getting more into the world of Hi-Fi and often find myself at sites such as Head-Fi.
I did actually buy a new pair of headphones recently, the JVC HA-S500. There’s a thread about them on Head-Fi and I quite like them. I already have the S400 but found it lacking in “punch” sometimes, especially when worn outside. The S500 is not perfect however but worst of all, I’m afraid it’s a pretty effective gateway drug into more expensive gear. Not sure my wallet could take more abuse…hm hm.
With that said,
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
And here’s to hoping 2014 will be a good (and active) year 🙂
Haven’t been much activity around, for which I apologize but…I bet all three of you are used to that by now.
I have been picking things up left to right this past month(s) but maybe one of the most important things I just got must be this:
The Sony NEX-C3, which will be replacing my ageing Konica Minolta DiMAGE X50 as preferred camera of choice from here on out. The NEX-C3 can also film in 720p so maybe, just maybe, we will get some use out of that for youtube or something. I would very much like to, but I have the refined speech capabilities of a submerged otter.
Now for the rest of the loot.
There’s a lot of fun stuff in here, but since I’m short on time, let me just highlight the really cool things. First off, new Minidisc player/recorder. It’s one that I’ve been wanting for quite some time. It’s very cool. It would be even cooler if I had some proper 4-pole headphones to make full use of the good sound tho’.
The other, for me, big pickup in there is Bulk Slash for the Saturn. Been wanting this game almost as long as I’ve had the system itself. Properly hyped to give that a spin later.
Moving on, Patlabor OVA LD box. MMmm….what can I say. Patlabor is a really cool show, you ought to check that out if you haven’t. I actually bought another version of this (called the Early Days box) on eBay in summer but it never turned up, sadly. So I was able to pick up another one through Yahoo Auctions. Very classy stuff.
While on the subject of anime, you maybe also noticed the Aika artbook to the left there…yes. Hrm…I still think AIKa is pretty bloody good, for a fanservice show. 99% of the known internet WILL disagree with me but to be honest, there is tons of fanservice shows that are so, so, so much worse. AIKa actually sports some really decent animation values not to mention good character & mechanical design – which is why it’s fun to have the artbooks. This is the second artbook, as I picked up the first one in what might be one of my first posts on this very blog.
Before I have to run, I’d just also like to mention the Dexule ARIEL soundtrack which, not only have the music on a disc, but also comes with a mini novel of sorts and a mini artbook. Very nice stuff. I got the LDs a while back and the soundstrack’s really nice and…not very common on eBay, so another Yahoo find then.
And now I own 3 PC-FX games without owning a console to play them on. Hmm.
And that’s it!
Actually it isn’t. But that’s most of it. There’s a few other bits & bobs that I maybe will make a separate post for, but this will be all for now.
So, wow, another year’s soon gone by. Time flies, like really!
Before I say another word, ARTWORK TIME!
Wasn’t even sure I’d be able to finish something for this year and I was running pretty late but it worked out somehow. Turned out pretty great too, aside from a few things that bugs me.
But just so we’re clear, HEADPHONES ARE FREAKING HARD TO DRAW. Got that? Okay, good 🙂
In other news,
I had meant to make another loot post because I got in some more stuff during the last months but I’ve been to lazy to actually post it here. Maybe it’ll come up today or tomorrow or something. We’ll see! I also have some more cool stuff on the way to me as we speak (which also totally emptied my wallet but that’s my fault) but more about that once they arrive.
Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays, people! 😀
You know what? It’s been almost a year since I last did any artwork worth posting…that’s quite a long time.
But here’s a little something: MM Legends fanart!
I recently completed Rockman Dash 2 and I’m currently playing Tron ni Kobun (Misadventures of Tron Bonne) so that’s what made me do it, I guess. (Funny that, I’ve been eye the PAL release ever since I got my PS2 but I ended up getting it much cheaper for my import PSone. Hmm).
Been wanting to do something MML-related for the longest time actually, had some things work in progress quite some time back but they never turned out very well. I get the feeling this too could look better in some areas, but at least I finished it instead of giving up 😛
Would you look at that, exactly one month since last time I featured some sweet, sweet loot.
Actually, I have been picking up a lot of stuff these last weeks, debit card or not. 😛
I believe I mentioned sometime earlier that I was looking into re-arranging my room again, and I’ve pretty much been trying to gather things I need for that. But I’ve ran into a bit of a “problem” with how I should arrange and connect things with the gaming systems, so I’ll have to think about that some more.
In the meantime, I’ve been focusing on the computer area. I was thinking of maybe moving the PS3 & XB360 there because it would mean easy access to an internet connection and less cables across the room.
That requires a decent sized screen and a way for both the PS3/360 & PC to make use of the same speaker system. Right now, I’m hunting stereo speakers.
But! I have no pictures of all this. Instead, I will update when things start to move along. However, I do have this:
I finally got a hold of a copy of Video Essentials on LD. This will hopefully be useful in testing the comb filter in the TV, scaler and DVD recorder. Also on LD is the movie Under Siege, which I hadn’t watched until now. There’s too many 80s/90s movies that I haven’t seen before and the reason I picked up this one was because I loved the title theme when I came across it on youtube. lol 😀
Also picked up one part of the soundtrack for the Patlabor TV-series, MGS: Peace Walker and also a new mouse to play around with. Haven’t tried the Scope Node yet, but I always thought it looked really cool.
Also I bought a whole bunch of game-related flyers:
These were all bought from the trading section on the System 11 Shmup community forums and are in really nice condition. There is still a whole lot of them left as I’m typing this.
…Yes, that Yuna-flyer, I know what you’re thinking. It folds out into a nice poster tho’, so it’s okay! 😛
And…I guess that’s all for now. Hopefully I’ll be able to find some nice, small speakers and fix a few other loose ends soon.
I’ll see you then.
And it’s christmas time once again. I’ve had a few different ideas for a picture this year but as usual, I had too grand plans and started too late – had to abandon my first idea because it didn’t turn out that great. Soo, here you go :p
Copying the description from DA because I’m tired:
I could spend all day pointing out all the mistakes but I won’t. At the time of writing this – about 15 minutes left to the 24th. I MADE IT IN TIME. OHYEAH!
A bit “rough” but consider this- originally “inked” with a black ballpoint pen : s
Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays~
This is quite a bit old now but embarrassingly enough, it’s still my newest colored piece >_>’
I found Dog Days to be quite fun, in it’s own right, but the style was really bad. Like, there was some serious blobifying going on there. That kind of sucked because I found the character design to be pretty-a-okay. Actually, there quite a lot of fun characters in Dog Days. Anyhow, I drew Leon in a style closer to my own preferences. Ohyes.
